CECO Environmental Corp. Viewed by Laguna Research Partners As Major Potential Beneficiary of U.S. Homeland Defense Initiatives

CECO Environmental Corp., today received top marks from Laguna Research Partners for its leadership in homeland defense and as an industry consolidator.

In a new research report, Laguna cites CECO's experience as a key participant in the U.S. military's biologic, toxin and chemical weapons destruction program and notes that the company has already assumed a leadership role in defining homeland defense initiatives as they relate to life-threatening airborne particles.

In order to fully appreciate the opportunities being seized by CECO Environmental, Laguna notes that new realities, such as the post-September 11 anthrax attacks combined with the increased threat of chemical, biological and nuclear hostilities, are likely to drive billions of dollars of expenditures for homeland defense in coming years. "Importantly, in our view," says Laguna, "this threat is likely to be long-term, if not actually permanent."

The report says CECO appears to be ideally positioned to make significant contributions to -- and to derive significant benefits from -- the surge in homeland defense initiatives.

Laguna's senior environmental technologies analyst, Kevin Skislock, also believes that CECO is well positioned to be a leading market share consolidator in the highly fragmented air quality market. Laguna expects that the likely benefits will be rapid sales growth and expanding profit margins. As well, the report notes that the regulatory environment continues to be very much in favor of the pollution control products and services industry, which is valued at more than $17-billion.
